letters from mom

To my sweet children, Uncle Rob taught papi and I to pray in Spanish a few nights ago. I’m trying to memorize as many of the phrases as I can before we travel to Colombia. Aunt Jaime also tried her hand at Spanish. She particularly likes tortugas–I think she just likes how the word rolls off… Continue reading letters from mom

Colombia is Passion!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_h0L0WuSOI What a cool place our kids are from! Thanks to Jim and Jaime’s blog for a link to this video. They are in Colombia right now, adopting 3 little ones. Lots of great stories and pictures on their blog.

a shower of love

403 Yeah, this was pretty much me all day. Our adoption shower was the most amazing thing that has happened so far on this journey. It was a culmination of so many things for me…the shower I always thought would be for a newborn, a celebration of life with friends and family, and the support… Continue reading a shower of love

the last step…

102105This Friday we have our very last assignment, we think! We get fingerprinted, once again, in Salt Lake City. From that point we only have to wait about two weeks for our I-171 (immigration approval). At that point we send our completed dossier to Colombia and WAIT. Our caseworker, Raul, walked us through the timeline… Continue reading the last step…

Check!

84 This checkmark didn’t come without difficulty though! The USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) is not the easiest office to do business with! Due to some changes with international adoption that will be implemented on April 1st, 2008, we really wanted to get the paperwork turned in. Our completed homestudy, that we needed to… Continue reading Check!

Registering at Target

96 We went to Target to register for some items for our shower. So….I’ve never shopped for “kid stuff” — toys for Christmas and birthday presents, but never the real life stuff. It’s expensive!! Welcome to the real world, Adam. We registered for towels, bedroom stuff, assorted bathroom stuff, etc. I can’t wait to graduate… Continue reading Registering at Target

still waiting

I did post an entry last week–a shower of celebration–but it seems to be lost in all of our blogging updates. Anyhow, I was thinking I’ve been kind of lame in my adoption posting lately. The problem is there is not much to report. We’re still hopeful for a travel date of early June. Assuming… Continue reading still waiting

good news from colombia

A few different things have happened this week. Colombia recently changed it’s referral policy allowing those of us non-Colombians who are adopting sibling groups and/or special needs children to be treated as Colombians. This means our dossier (paperwork) once in Colombia will be expedited and we will receive travel authorization 2-3 months ahead of schedule!!!!!!!!!… Continue reading good news from colombia

Cast a Wide Net

I can’t sleep. It’s 1:30 a.m and I have a morning appointment for adoption purposes…why can’t I sleep? This psych exam is the last major ‘check mark’ on our list. I lie awake thinking of adoption and fertility and all the people I personally know who are touched by it in some way. I have… Continue reading Cast a Wide Net
